Saint Rincewind the Timid

Deep in the ground, or on the floor of a cage, tunnels abound in this world. One spirit watches over those who dwell in these tunnels. That spirit belongs to an angel named Francis, known affectionately as Frankie.

Legends abound about the life of Frankie, some plausible and some incredible. It is said that she spent the whole of her life in a tunnel. It has been told that she had the purest of hearts, leading her to spend her life for the good of others. It is murmered that she could see through soil and that she could burrow faster than any device known to critter or man. Some even claim that she was a mouse.

The Grave of Frankie Little is known about this mysterious spirit. Every year, small mammals from around the world make a pilgrimage to the site that is believed to be the grave of Frankie. It is placed in a small grove in downtown Atlanta, an unlikely place for a guardian angel but the city where Frankie is thought to have lived. The pilgrims go to pay their respects, to keep the grave clean and undesecrated, and in the hope that they will be there when Frankie returns again to this world.

To the left is an image of the grave site taken in the summer of 1998. Below is an image of the entrance to the grove in which the grave lays. Beneath that is an alternative view of the grave. You will note that a brick seals the tomb entrance and beside this rests a white stone. This stone is thought to have powers of healing and enlightenment. Legend says that it is on this stone that the holy Frankie died.
